Interactive Learning Resource Topic: Art Therapy https://classroom.google.com/u/0/c/NTIzMTQ0NTAwOTEw
Identify components of the Interactive Learning Resource that might be missing (e.g., appropriate outcomes, alignment, interactivity, inclusivity, technology use and rationale, presentation, grammar, spelling, citations, etc.).
Hi everyone! I really enjoyed going over your learning resource and I thought you did a great job laying out the topic. I like how the presentation of our learning resource was done online through google classroom however a lot of the activities seem to involve many online submissions. If this class is meant to be done 100% online I think it could be difficult for students in grade 3 to find simple ways of submitting online work. I’m wondering if you have a plan to help students with this? Also, all of the learning for students is done through youtube videos, this could make this course less inclusive for students that like asking questions face to face. Could you set up a zoom call for the students to be able to ask questions or get help if they need?
Provide a summary of The Interactive Learning Resource’s strengths and weaknesses. Draw out specific examples from your peers’ work to justify your feedback.
Your resource has a lot of strengths, all the videos that you use are geared towards the age group that you are teaching and the assignments for the course are great for younger kids. One thing that stood out to me at the beginning was that your sections are not laid out with numbers. Because of this I found it a bit difficult to figure out where I needed to start. I started by looking at the first post after learning the design rationale and it said “Now that you have learned about tableaux”. Because of that I started instead at the bottom which I hope is correct. I think an easy way to fix this issue would be to add numbered modules. Finally there are a lot of assignments that involve multiple steps for each piece. For example, the part about photography has 3 sections, each evolving a post and response to peers’ post. Since there are many sections, I think this could get tedious and overwhelming to students. If you instead had a weekly or twice weekly zoom meeting where each student could discuss their thoughts on that day’s topics I think it would be more enjoyable.
Provide general, specific, and practical recommendations to your peers on how to improve their Interactive Learning Resource.
The learning resource that you created is very well done overall and is perfect for the age group it is geared towards. One recommendation that I would give would be to change some of the assignments to have more of a description of what is expected or include an example to help younger students understand what is expected of them. This could include a couple of variations, for example, the Ready Set ACTion assignment, should the freeze frames be drawn, pictures done by the group or photos found online and should they make a video explaining what each frame is or can they just write a couple of things down. I think by explaining some of these activities better it will be easier and more enjoyable by the students. Also since this appears to be a 100% online course realizing some of the limitations that come with this (not everyone will have clay or a chrome book) and possibly adding to your learning resource rational how you can help accommodate students that might be missing some of these supplies.
